Hello, I’m James Seal — an integrative counsellor and coach based in the UK, with over twenty years’ experience supporting people through change, growth, and emotional healing.
My work centres on helping individuals heal after heartbreak, rebuild confidence in dating, and deepen emotional intimacy in their relationships. Through my Talk & Love™ approach, I help clients reconnect with themselves and others by understanding the deeper patterns that drive emotion, behaviour, and connection.
My Journey
Before becoming a counsellor, I spent years studying and teaching how the mind and body shape our experience. I originally trained in Biology at the University of Exeter, which gave me a deep respect for the human nervous system and the way our emotional and physical worlds intertwine.
My early career took me into Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) — where I trained to practitioner, master practitioner, and trainer level with John Seymour Associates. NLP introduced me to how language, perception, and emotion interact, and how small shifts in awareness can transform how we feel and respond to life.
Over time, my curiosity about the deeper layers of human experience led me to counselling and mindfulness. I completed my Diploma in Integrative Counselling at the Iron Mill Training College and a Postgraduate Diploma in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy at the University of Exeter. I also hold a qualification in Hypnotherapy from the California Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education.
This combination of training has shaped a practice that bridges science and emotion — integrating counselling, mindfulness, nervous system literacy, and practical psychological tools.
Why I Created Talk & Love™
Throughout my work with clients — from those recovering after loss to those rebuilding trust and connection — I noticed a common thread: we can only heal and relate deeply when we learn to feel safe in our bodies and emotions.
Talk & Love™ grew out of that understanding. It’s not just about talking about our experiences, but learning how to be with them — to bring compassion, presence, and curiosity to the places that have felt stuck or guarded for years.
The method combines the reflective depth of counselling with the active, solution-focused tools of coaching and the embodied awareness of mindfulness. It’s designed to help people move from emotional survival to authentic connection — both with themselves and others.
How I Work
I offer a calm, collaborative, and non-judgemental space where you can slow down, reflect, and begin to reconnect with what matters most. My work focuses on emotional regulation, self-trust, communication, and the ability to hold healthy boundaries in both personal and professional life.
I work with clients who want to heal old patterns, find balance, and experience relationships that feel real, secure, and fulfilling. Together, we explore the emotional and physiological layers of your experience — how your mind, body, and story interact — so that change feels not just possible but embodied and sustainable.
