About James Seal
Hello, I’m James Seal — an integrative counsellor and coach based in the UK, with over twenty years’ experience supporting people through change, growth and emotional healing.
Helping people heal after heartbreak, rebuild confidence in dating and develop deeper emotional intimacy in their relationships.
Understanding what drives connection
My work centres on helping individuals heal after heartbreak, rebuild confidence in dating and deepen emotional intimacy in their relationships.
Through my Talk & Love™ approach, I help clients reconnect with themselves and others by understanding the deeper patterns that drive emotion, behaviour and connection.
My practice brings together counselling, mindfulness, nervous-system awareness and practical psychological tools. The aim is not simply to understand your experience intellectually, but to create change that can be felt and sustained in everyday life.
From science to emotional healing
Before becoming a counsellor, I spent years studying and teaching how the mind and body shape our experience.
Biology and the nervous system
I originally trained in Biology at the University of Exeter. This gave me a deep respect for the human nervous system and the way our emotional and physical worlds intertwine.
Language, perception and emotion
My early career took me into Neuro-Linguistic Programming — NLP — where I trained to practitioner, master practitioner and trainer level with John Seymour Associates.
NLP introduced me to the ways language, perception and emotion interact, and how small shifts in awareness can transform how we feel and respond to life.
Counselling and mindfulness
Over time, my curiosity about the deeper layers of human experience led me to counselling and mindfulness.
I completed my Diploma in Integrative Counselling at Iron Mill Training College and a Postgraduate Diploma in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy at the University of Exeter.
An integrated practice
I also hold a qualification in Hypnotherapy from the California Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education.
This combination of training has shaped a practice that bridges science and emotion — integrating counselling, mindfulness, nervous-system literacy and practical psychological tools.
Why I created Talk & Love™
Throughout my work with clients — from those recovering after loss to those rebuilding trust and connection — I noticed a common thread: we can only heal and relate deeply when we learn to feel safe in our bodies and emotions.
Talk & Love™ grew out of that understanding. It is not only about talking about our experiences, but learning how to be with them — bringing compassion, presence and curiosity to the places that may have felt stuck or guarded for years.
The method combines the reflective depth of counselling with the active, solution-focused tools of coaching and the embodied awareness of mindfulness.
Reflective depth
Counselling creates space to understand your history, emotional patterns and inner experience.
Practical change
Coaching tools help translate insight into clearer decisions, new behaviours and meaningful action.
Embodied awareness
Mindfulness helps you recognise what is happening within your mind, body and nervous system.
Talk & Love™ is designed to help people move from emotional survival towards authentic connection — both with themselves and with others.
Calm, collaborative and non-judgemental
I offer a calm, collaborative and non-judgemental space where you can slow down, reflect and begin to reconnect with what matters most.
My work focuses on emotional regulation, self-trust, communication and the ability to hold healthy boundaries in both personal and professional life.
I work with clients who want to heal old patterns, find balance and experience relationships that feel real, secure and fulfilling.
Emotional regulation
Understanding and responding to difficult emotions without becoming overwhelmed or shutting down.
Self-trust
Reconnecting with your own judgement, needs, values and internal sense of direction.
Communication
Expressing yourself more clearly and developing healthier, more honest conversations.
Healthy boundaries
Protecting your wellbeing while remaining open to closeness, care and connection.
Together, we explore the emotional and physiological layers of your experience — how your mind, body and story interact — so that change feels not only possible, but embodied and sustainable.
